Reading is one of the number one ways I expand my mindset. So, it’s safe to say I’ve read a great deal of books in my lifetime and some of the most interesting books I’ve come across are the ones about Health and Wellness.
So, I’ve compiled a list of my top eight favorite health and wellness books. They teach you how to cure diseases like cancer and diabetes, debunk popular health myths, show you the truth about nutrition and teach you how to live a truly healthy lifestyle.
If you’re ever stuck on what to get someone, pick one of these because there’s no greater gift than the gift of good health.
The Choice is Clear - Allen E. Banik
A study showed that between 1982 and 2015 , somewhere between 9 million and 45 million Americans got their drinking water from a location that was in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act. When you’re drinking water that contains unsafe levels of contaminants, you’re at risk of developing health issues like gastrointestinal illnesses, nervous system or reproductive issues and chronic diseases such as cancer.
This book discusses the importance of understanding our drinking water. According to Amazon it’s the “most readable booklet on water ever published.” It explains why you should use distilled water for drinking and cooking.
The Mucusless Diet Healing System- Arnold Ehret
This book looks at the scientific method of eating giving you a complete, workable program for cleansing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining a healthy body. The book itself is pretty easy to understand which isn’t always the case when it comes to health books.
Professor Arnold Ehret was a German philosopher, nutritionist, teacher, and one of the first people to advocate fasting and raw vegan diets as therapies for healing. His work and teachings have been based on the theory that health, happiness, and longevity can only be found by living in complete harmony with the laws of nature.
The China Study- Dr. Colin Campbell
This book bridges the gap and details the connection between nutrition and chronic/terminal diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. It also channels the Cut The Noise ideology by examining the truth of nutritional confusion caused by powerful lobbyists, government agencies and “opportunistic” scientists.
This is a good book with an insightful message for anyone living with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and those concerned with the effects of aging. I recommend it to anyone that’s looking to live a truly healthy lifestyle. Just know that you may find what you’ve been taught to believe is all one big lie.
The Grape Cure- Johanna Brandt
This book follows Author Johanna Brandt’s personal journey of living with cancer and how she believes the beneficial properties of grapes cured her disease by refreshing and purifying her cell structures. Throughout the book, Johanna encourages readers to detoxify their bodies and prevent diseases like cancer through a combination of fasting and a diet of grapes.
The Oxygen Advantage- Patrick Mckeown
What if I told you the key to weight loss, fitness, and wellness was how you breath? Patrick McKeown has trained over 5,000 people how to breathe more efficiently. Some of which were Olympic and Professional Athletes.
Now, in the Oxygen Advantage, McKeown teaches you about the fundamental relationship between oxygen and the body and how to get started with a Body Oxygen Level Test (BOLT) to determine how efficiently your body uses oxygen. According to McKeown, anyone following this program can achieve weight loss, improve sleep and energy, increase concentration, heighten athletic performance and the eliminate asthmatic symptoms.
Healing the Hopeless- Dr. Max Gerson
This book follows the life story of Dr. Max Gerson. You may know him for his dietary and detox therapies for treating cancer and chronic disease, like his well-known coffee enema. He even cured certain types of lung tuberculosis with his special diet.
This is another book that does a great job of showing you how certain foods and ingredients can cause diseases like diabetes, heart disease and cancer. But, with the proper diet and nutritional choices, you can cure a lot.
The Tao of Health, Sex, and Longevity- Daniel Reid
This book is perfect for anyone interested in exploring what a balanced and holistic health care system looks like. You’ll explore ones used by Chinese physicians, martial artists, and meditators for over 5,000 years covering all aspects of the healthy Taoist lifestyle.
Its helpful charts and illustrations were written for the Western mind to understand making it more applicable to a modern Western audience than ever before.
The Miracle Detox Sourcebook- Robert Morse
Yet ANOTHER book where a Doctor uses proper nutrition to successfully help people cure diseases like cancer, diabetes, M.S., Crohn's disease, brain and nerve damage. Dr. Morse’s “miracle approach” uses raw foods and herbs to detoxify, heal and regenerate weak or diseased cells.
I consider this a must read book and a solid guide to your nutrition. If you have anyone in your life that’s dealing with any of the diseases mentioned above, get them this book.
HOW TO HEAL YOUR GUT:
The most simple way I’ve found to initiate the process of getting clean and helping your body finally start to heal is fasting and feasting. This is where my juice feast comes in.
Juicing is the best application of processing foods. It’s gentle, gives the digestive system a break - while also flooding the body with minerals, enzymes, and nutrients. Juicing can either be done when you need to restore balance to your body, OR it can become a daily ritual for maintaining a harmonious state.
Some may never workout others may never think about breathing but very few will forget to eat a meal, that’s why my clients start with the gut.
